Cleaning and lubricating the brew group of the Philips 3200

In this article we explain how you can clean and lubricate your Philips 3200 of the brew group. To be able to use the Philips 3200 as long as possible, it is important to clean your coffee machine weekly and lubricate it monthly.  

Requirements: Tube of spread from Philips/Saeco 

Cleaning the brew group:

  1. Turn off the machine.
  2. Open the door on the right side of the machine.
  3. Remove the brew group from the machine.
  4. Rinse the brew group well with cold or lukewarm water. 
  5. Also clean the small holes and grooves with it.
  6. Let the brew group dry.
  7. Place the brew group back in the machine when it is dry.
  8. Turn the machine back on. 

Lubricating the brew group: 

  1. Turn off the machine.
  2. Open the door on the right side of the machine.
  3. Remove the brew group from the machine.
  4. Use the supplied tube of liniment from Philips/Saeco
  5. Lubricate all parts.
  6. Place the brew group back in the machine.
  7. Turn the machine back on.

Descaling the Philips 3200

The instructions for descaling the Philips 3200 are:

  1. Prepare for descaling
  2. Start descaling
  3. Flush the machine
  4. Place a new Aquaclean filter

Requirements: Saeco CA6700 descaler and a 1.5 liter container

How often should I descale the Philips 3200? 

If you use the AquaClean water filter and replace it on time, you only descale the coffee machine once every eighteen months. The coffee machine will notify you when descaling is required. Don't use a water filter? Then you will have to descale the device much more often. How often that is depends on the use, but count on about once every 3 months.

Prepare for descaling:

  1. When the 'Calc/Clean' light flashes, you need to descale.
  2. Remove the LatteGo. 
  3. Remove the drip tray and the coffee grounds drawer.
  4. Empty the drip tray and coffee grounds drawer and rinse them.
  5. Place the drip tray and coffee grounds drawer back in the machine.
  6. Remove and empty the water tank.
  7. Remove the AquaClean filter from the reservoir.
  8. Pour the entire bottle of Philips descaling solution into the water tank.
  9. Fill the water reservoir with fresh water up to the 'Calc/Clean' line. 
  10. Place the water tank back in the appliance. 

Start descaling: 

  1. Place a 1,5 liter container under the hot water and coffee spout.
  2. Press the 'Calc / Clean' icon for 3 seconds.
  3. Press the 'start / stop' button to start the descaling program.
  4. Let the descaling solution run through until the water tank is empty.
  5. The reservoir is empty when the 'water reservoir empty' light comes on.
  6. Empty the container.
  7. Remove the water tank and rinse it.
  8. Fill the water reservoir with fresh water up to the 'Calc / Clean' line.
  9. Place the reservoir back in the device.

Flush the machine:

  1. Place the container back under the hot water and coffee spout.
  2. Press the 'start/stop' button to start the rinse cycle.
  3. Descaling is finished when no more water runs out of the appliance.
  4. The appliance is ready for use when the drinks icon lights are on continuously.

Insert a new Aquafilter:

  1. Remove the filter from the packaging
  2. Shake the filter for 5 seconds.
  3. Hold the filter upside down in a bowl of cold water until no more air bubbles form.
  4. Remove and empty the water tank.
  5. Place the filter on the filter connection in the water tank.
  6. Fill the water tank up to the max mark
  7. Replace the reservoir.
  8. Place a container under the hot water spout.
  9. Press the 'AquaClean' icon for 3 seconds.
  10. Press the 'start/stop' button to start the activation process.
  11. When the 'AquaClean' light turns blue, the machine is ready for use.

Cleaning the milk container: 

Requirements: Water and Dishwashing Liquid.

To clean the milk container:

  1. Remove the milk container from the machine.
  2. Discard any milk residue.
  3. Press the release button and remove the milk container from the holder, so that you have 2 separate parts.
  4. Clean these 2 parts in the dishwasher or under the tap with lukewarm water and some washing-up liquid.
  5. Reassemble the parts and put the milk container back into the machine.
