Drostdy-Hof winery, a former courthouse from the nineteenth century, is located 120 km from Cape Town near the town of Tulbagh. Grapes from all over the Western Cape/Coastal Region are used for the Drostdy-Hof wines. The stone, or chenin blanc in French, comes from vineyards in the Porterville region. The grapes are harvested by hand early in January. The grapes ferment at a low temperature of 13 degrees, so that the acids and fruity aromas are preserved. To keep the wine as fresh as possible, no malolactic fermentation takes place. The Drostdy-Hof Stone is pale yellow with a green sparkle. The taste is remarkably fresh and fruity. An excellent wine for the aperitif and delicious with poultry, fish and fresh salads.
